Meeting Kin

You’re warmly invited to spend an hour and a half meeting yourself, other human creatures, the more-than-human, and this Earth through ecological enquiry.

And, maybe find that your meetings become more visceral, full, and wondrous.

Sitting at the intersection of ecology, story, and embodied practise, ecological enquiry is one pathway into the relational nature of existence, knowledge, complexity, and the cosmologies and stories that we world through (and are being worlded by). To practise ecological enquiry is to be in an ongoing discovery of the entanglement of self and material reality, the entanglement of self and mystery, the entanglement of self and the more-than-human, the entanglement of self and earth, and more; and, through the discovery, keep meeting kin.

Meeting Kin arises out of a thirty year personal enquiry practise, as well as a three year journey into learning how to best guide others into an ecological enquiry practise of their own.

MEETING KIN THROUGH ECOLOGICAL ENQUIRY.

MEETING KIN BRINGS YOU:

  • * A lived experience of ecological tracing, an ecological enquiry practise exploring personal and collective worldviews and cosmologies, cultural framings, stories, and experiences.
  • * A overview of the theory underpinning ecological enquiry.
  • * Dialogue with the author and each other, where you can bring your questions about ecological enquiry, or enquiry in general.
  • * A post-session enquiry practise.
  • * Ongoing access to the introductory guide, so that you can revisit the underlying theory in your own time.
  • * Access to a small group of fellow enquirers (capped at 8 participants per session).

PRACTISING ECOLOGICAL ENQUIRY MAY BRING YOU:

  • The recognition and embodiment of self, other human creatures, the more-than-human, and this Earth as kin.
  • Greater connection to the mystery and beauty in what seemed small, simple, and uninteresting, while being drawn to slowness and depth, paying more attention, and soaking more in.
  • A deepening lived knowing of how entangled your thinking, stories, and biology are with neighbourhood, place, ecosystems, social systems, the more-than-human, this Earth, ancestral lines, histories, and possible futures (and so much more), bringing you more connection while also rooting you deeper into your individuation.
  • A deepening curiosity about the beliefs, hopes, and stories you are worlding and that are worlding you; and, through this noticing and investigation, space for any necessary falling away as new ones seed.
  • A growing agency about what you can, and want to, be response-able to, as well as greater discernment about what you pay attention to and care for, and what isn't for you.
  • New perspectives on, and pathways into, what has been obtuse or stuck.
  • A closer relationship with the shades, seasons, and shapes of life, being more able to be with grief, pain, disappointment, fantasy, hope, love, anger, loss, joy, mystery, and awe.
  • New or evolving rituals arising from within, along with a deepening respect for lineage and the different routes into what’s held as holy, spiritually meaningful, and (often) beyond words.

PREVIOUS PARTICIPANTS' FEEDBACK

'Thanks very much, Anna-Marie. That was fascinating!'

'It is a journey to learn a different way of thinking, from hierarchies and structures, to systems, organic flows and a more ecological way of seeing yourself in the world…  Anna-Marie's caring space-holding style provides a lot of insight, while meeting participants where they are at.'

'It gave me lots to think and feel with. Thank you for putting it out into the world.'

'I very much enjoyed the taster session - thank you so much! I really appreciated having this space of curiosity and kindness’.

‘Anna-Marie is a gentle and thoughtful facilitator who holds the space with tender curiosity.’

'Anna-Marie's creative style of approaching vulnerability opens me to safety and sharing more of myself. Her deep knowledge about roots of words and history heightens my own emotional connection to the ideas she is bringing, connecting her own stories through common patterns seen throughout generations helps me to see how my stories are a shared experience and safe to tell, and the presence she brings to listening without needing to comment is very calming and empowering.'
